It happens so fast. One minute our babies are crawling all over, standing up and taking their first steps.
Before we know it they’re going into elementary school, and then we blink and they’re off to high school.
At least, that’s how I feel my children’s childhood has gone by. In an instant. I looked away for just one second. Now my baby is entering high school. I thought all the “firsts” were in infinite supply. I was wrong. My littlest starting high school has shown the reality of the kids growing up. It happens fast, although it doesn’t feel like it when we’re in thick of tantrums and nap times and giggles and what seems like utter chaos a lot of the time.
The teenage years are weird. They’re still kids, but they’ve got ideas and desires and plans… Plans for their free time after homework, plans for their Friday nights and weekends, plans for graduation and plans for starting their adult life.
As much as I try to get this girl to slow down, and just enjoy the days… she is just as busy as she was when she was a toddler. It’s just a different kind of busy, but I’m here for it.
