A Raleigh Birth Story – Strength and Courage
Every birth is powerful, but some stories carry an extra layer of strength. This is the story of a mother who faced one of life’s toughest battles—triple negative breast cancer—while also preparing to bring new life into the world.
Photographing this birth was nothing short of extraordinary. From the quiet strength in pre-op to the intense focus of the operating room, each moment reflected both vulnerability and fierce determination. Maria had already undergone treatment throughout her pregnancy– while nurturing her unborn baby.
The C-section was scheduled at one of Orlando’s leading hospitals (Advent Health for Women, formerly Florida Hospital for Women) the birth suite was filled with a mix of emotion: fear, anticipation, and overwhelming love. As a birth photographer, I was honored to document her journey. From the moment she held her partner’s hand behind the blue drape to the instant her baby took their first breath—this was not just a delivery, it was a triumph.
What unfolded was a visual story of courage: the gentle first latch, the look in her eyes as she held her child close to her scarred chest, the IV lines crisscrossing arms that had fought so hard. These aren’t just photos—they’re proof of what it means to persevere.
If you’re searching for a Raleigh birth photographer who understands the gravity of each moment—especially for families facing unique challenges—I’m here to hold space for your story.
